New quick Digg link added to tutorial records!

New quick Digg link added to tutorial records!

We've added a quick Digg button to the tutorials and we’re working on a nifty popup style sharing box that will quickly allow you too bookmark tutorials on social networks on the fly with all your favorite sites. Adam will be working on this tomorrow so we might see this up and running by Sunday night if all goes well, just keep an eye on the news for the announcement.

As for the Quick Digg link, youll see the little dig shovel guy icon next to the report and fave icons on each tutorial record. Click this to Digg that tutorial on the spot! Bear in mind that if you are the first person to Digg that tutorial, you will have to submit it to Digg.com first to register your Digg.

The new share box will allow you to post to Del.icio.us, Reddit, Technorati and more!

Enjoy and have a great weekend guys!

Quick Digg on P2L, New Go Media Arsenal Goodies and the EEZY Sites for Free Vectors and MORE!

Quick Digg on P2L, New Go Media Arsenal Goodies and the EEZY Sites for Free Vectors and MORE!

School season is nearly upon us, and for me that means I ease out of full-time dad mode and start getting back in to posting articles, working on my sites and in general, be around a lot more to annoy everyone that got used to me being so vaporish for the last 2 months. I just finished off this week’s P2L newsletter and sent that off (you can sign up for the newsletter on Pixel2life.com by using the sign up box on the right side of the site) and I have some goodies I wanted to share with my blog readers in case you didn’t catch the newsletter.

P2L Update:

First off, we’ve added a quick Digg icon to all tutorial records indexed at P2L for quick access to social bookmarking goodness on everyone’s favorite news portal. Ok, maybe not everyone’s but certainly me!

Digg update on P2L

Simply click on the Digg dude to add your digg to a tutorial, or if it hasn’t dugg yet, to add it to the Digg index. Just bear in mind you do need to have a Digg account for this to work (duh!). You’ll also notice some text right next to it saying “Share It!”. This is going to be a nifty popup style sharing box that will quickly allow you to bookmark tutorials on social networks on the fly with all your favorite sites. Adam will be working on this tomorrow so we might see this up and running by Sunday night if all goes well, just keep an eye on the news for the announcement. The new share box will allow you to post to Del.icio.us, Reddit, Technorati and more!

Go Media Arsenal Update:

Go Media’s Arsenal line of products has just been updated with 2 new packs for you designers out there!

Go Media's Arsenal Vector Pack 7

Go Media’s Arsenal Vector Pack 7 is out features 7 vector packs with 296 pieces of pure vector goodness. The set includes the following packs: Ornate, War, Stains, Hair, Scrolls, Stars & Hearts, and Horror. Check it all out HERE!

Go Media's Arsenal Watercolor Texture Pack

They also have a BADASS new water color texture pack added to their gorgeous texture series… you can check that out HERE!

I’ve done some work with these texture packs in Corel Photopaint and the results are absolutely astounding. The packs are very edgy with stylish graphics, not worthless images that are about as cool as a butterfly collar. Just look through them and see for youself.

Free Stuff from EEZY Sites!

What do www.vecteezy.com, www.brusheezy.com and www.fresheezy.com have in common? They all have the same owner, the same last 4 letters, and some KICK ASS free goods for graphic designers!

Vecteezy.com

They’ve got vectors, shapes, icons, bruches, WordPress and other CMS system themes and TONS more! I was actually shown these sites by a one of our advertisers today and I was blown away at the quality of this content that is 100% free. Go check them out for yourself and be sure to drop the webmaster a note and let him know how awesome his offerings are… this guy deserves a medal.

OK gang that’s it from me tonight, time to go post some more goodies on P2L! Giggidy Giggidy!

Contest Time! Show your P2L Love and Win Some Loot!

Contest Time! Show your P2L Love and Win Some Loot!

Pixel2life, LearnFlash, Total Training and Friendsofed are pleased to present the "Show the P2L Love" contest, where you can win some cool prizes by showing us how much you love P2L!

How to Enter:

Entering is easy! All you have to do is post a photo showing us how much you dig P2L and the 2 best pics win the loot. This is not based on photographic skills either, I'm looking for the most original and amusing photos submitted, so you don't have to have an awesome camera or mad photography skills to have a chance. Even a shot taken with a cell (mobile) phone camera will work.

So take a photo of you with PIXEL2LIFE across your forehead, write it out on your neighbor's driveway with chalk, cut P2L in to your dad's lawn, write it on the chalkboard at school (Just in time for back-to-school shenanigans), line up your beer cans, carve it in to a tree etc… be creative and have some fun and try not to do anything illegal or that lands you in to the ER.

Email or PM me your photos (You can email me at: info at pixel2life dot com) and feel free to submit as many photos as you like. Each unique photo you send me will be considered a separate entry, but don't send 10 photos of you doing pretty much the same thing.

Your email/PM should include your photo or a link to the photo, your name, your full physical mailing address and a description of what's going on in the photo just in case it's not obvious.

Please submit original photos only! You can do some post-shot editing to touch up colors and such, but please do not send in blatant photochops.

When does it end?

I will accept entries until 11:59PM EST (Eastern Standard Time) Friday, September 10, 2007. Winner will be announced the following Monday.

What are the prizes?

Here is what's up for grabs!

First Prize:

Complete set of LearnFlash.com DVDs including the following titles:

  1. Flash Animations and Intros
  2. Adding Video to your Website Using Flash 8
  3. Flash 8 Professional 8 Quickstart
  4. Introduction to ActionScript 2.0
  5. Introduction to Flash 8
  6. Building Websites in Flash 8

Total value is over $500!

Second Prize:

– Total Training for Advanced Flash Professional 8 ActionScript DVD
– A brand new copy of the book "From After Effects to Flash – Poetry in Motion Graphics" published by Friendsofed and written by P2L member Tiago Dias!

Total value is over $200!

P2L will cover all shipping fees but winner bidder is responsible for any applicable shipping duties and taxes should they be incurred.

Who can enter?

I will be judging this contest so this contest is open to everyone aside from…. ME!

Enjoy and good luck! Please post any questions or comments you may have.

Classic Search – Enable the Category Dropdown on the Search Bar!

Classic Search – Enable the Category Dropdown on the Search Bar!

Do you miss the good ol' days when there was a category dropdown on the main tutorial search bar? When we released the new version 4 layout, we introduced a new search system that allowed you to isolate specific category results quicker than ever, but some folks still preferred the old way of doing it, despite it being a bit of a slower process. Your wishes did not fall on deaf ears! As always, we listen to the community and try to develop new features based on your feedback and today I am happy to announce that you can now enable the category dropdown on the search bar!

Simply log in to your account and visit the User Dock at http://www.pixel2life.com/userdock/ and set the Tutorial Search Bar to classic and click save. Voila! Your category dropdown is back.

Another goodie brought you by Adam, thanks Adam!

Enjoy,
Dan

P2L Releases the Tutorial Navigation Bar for Quick and Convenient Browsing!

P2L Releases the Tutorial Navigation Bar for Quick and Convenient Browsing!

Fresh off Adam's development table, I'm proud to announce the release of the new Tutorial Navigation Bar, located under the main topic bar when browsing any tutorial relevant pages on the site. This new feature gives you a quick way to browse the most popular categories on the site, or click edit and set it to show "My Categories", which will set the bar to display categories you've tagged as favorites. (You can add categories to your My Categories list by simply clicking on the round checkbox icon located next to the title when on a specific category page.

For example, when you visit the Photoshop category at http://www.pixel2life.com/tutorials/adobe_photoshop/ you will see a grey check icon to the left of "Photoshop Tutorials". Click that icon and Photoshop will be added to your Tutorial Nav Bar and to the My Categories area in the Category Browser.

Should you wish to not see the new Tutorial Navigation Bar at all, simply click on hide and it will completely close the bar. To re-enable it, click on User Dock at the top right and set the bar to "Show Bar" and click Save.

Please note you have to be a member and be logged in to access the edit functions.

Enjoy and thanks to Adam for putting this together for us!
